When lying down
Arabic: بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا
Transliteration: Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya.
Meaning: In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live. Reported in Sahih al-Bukhari.
Place your trust in Allah
Arabic: اللَّهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا
Transliteration: Allahumma bismika amutu wa ahya.
Meaning: O Allah, in Your name I die and I live.
Quran before sleep
- Recite Ayatul Kursi.
- Recite the final two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah.
- Recite Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq and An-Nas, blow lightly into the palms and wipe over the body, repeating three times.
Sleep with good preparation
Perform wudu before bed where possible, lie on the right side and avoid treating optional practices as obligatory. If a medical condition affects sleep position, follow appropriate health advice.
