What the indicator means
The home-page indicator uses time-of-day patterns as a simple planning estimate. It does not represent a live headcount, gate count or official occupancy feed. View the current estimate →
When the Haram can feel busier
Pedestrian movement can increase before and after the five daily prayers, around Jumu’ah on Fridays, during Ramadan and during major pilgrimage periods. Conditions can also differ by gate, floor, transport drop-off point and the route you take to the mosque.
Allow time before prayer
If you intend to join a congregational prayer, leave additional time for walking, security checks and movement through busy areas. A route that is quick at a quiet time can take much longer when large numbers of worshippers are arriving or leaving together.
Follow official directions
On-site instructions from Saudi authorities and Haram staff always take priority over this estimate. Access routes, gates and movement patterns can change quickly, so follow barriers, signs and staff directions when present.
